The Arbutus Tree

The Arbutus Tree

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Majestic
Warrior like limbs
Solid and strong
Yet smooth
as skin
Burning in sun
flakes fall
paper-thin
as summer snow
uniquely curled
and small
In spring
you loosen leafy shawl
as if to taunt the trees
that lost their’s
in fall
When winter wages war
and deciduous trees
parade bare
you flaunt
your
waxy emerald coat
as if you hadn’t
a care!
I love everything about our Arbutus tree.  It’s refusal to fit in with the crowd reminds me of Someone I dearly love.  He was about his Father’s business, and the establishment was largely not impressed!
    1. Thank you! I can really relate to this tree, as my life is so out of schedule compared to my friends. They had their children when they were younger and have empty nests, now. Our nest is full, and these teens are helping keep us young! 🙂 It worked out well for us.
  1. This tree is amazing! And so is how you related it to Jesus! He is just everywhere and you are quick to see Him and give Him praise! God bless you and thank you!
    1. Forever the tease! I know that you love our tree, too…
      PS – I might need to “borrow” your sunrise photo, as the weather is not cooperating and I have a poem all ready for one…
  2. Hi Wendy, missing seeing you all. Each one of us mentioned today that we hadn’t seen your family for a bit. Hope you ALL feel better soon! Thanks for the wonderful words and images. I love the Arbutus trees as well… 🙂 Hugs, Dee
    1. Hi Dee! We are battling the flu bug. It is tricky keeping the kid’s spirits up when they have all had to miss so much this week… And would you believe that Grayson had to get 7 stitches in his hand on top of it all? ( picking up a broken juice jug off the floor…) I heard him playing his guitar today… so things are looking up! And Galen was on his drums! 🙂 Kara is suffering the most right now. The parents just feel dragged out. Maybe this means we’ll be home-free from sickness at Christmas? Your family has been through it, too, already?
  3. Oh, I hope Kara feels better soon! It was a NASTY flu. We all had it here too, but I think I was the worst. I had such a bad fever and mine lasted three weeks. I finally got to the clinic for my flu shot but it might be in vain. We are hoping the same as you…maybe we’ll be free from the flu bug at Christmas. Hang in there! 🙂 Looking forward to seeing you soon! Blessings, Dee
