Have you ever had to let go of a dream after putting in years trying to make it happen? And have you ever had to painfully let go of one, when it seemed like the right thing to do, only to wake up to an even better dream realized? Sometimes it takes a leap of faith to unwrap a better gift!

I have had to oh, so painfully let go of so much! And in eyes of faith, I see that better is coming, although it is still far off on the horizon… thank you for this word of encouragement, Wendy!
I’ve been here a few times… enough to have learned that He has “plans to give you hope and a future.” It hurts less if I let go instead of having my fingers pried off…

Great read, Wendy! Scary picture. 😉 Luckily I’ve never had to give up anything that caused regret later on, something better always came along and in every case I always thought afterwards that it was lucky things turned out the way they did, and not the way I planned. 🙂
Oh, yes, I agree with you that something better comes along. In my case, it was a good-willed husband I ended up with 29 years ago. (Two years after breaking up with a “bad boy” – because my new faith pulled me onto a new path.)

I’ve been blessed by your post as well as all the comments. One of my favorite verses from the Bible is Psalm 37:4–“Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.”. I thank Him that as I lose myself in Him, I begin to want different things in life. His plans are always best…we need only to keep seeking and trusting Him. Your post makes me think of one I wrote a few months ago about a lifelong dream that had both disappointment and fulfillment–in ways I never could have guessed (the post was called “Not Making the Cut”). Thank you for getting me to pause for some moments tonight to think about dreams…and trusting God…and loving where He has placed me!
I just went and read “Not Making the Cut” and I enjoyed reading it. You write well!
I had always wanted to have our kids at a younger age and be free by this age… but I think, in my case, I am enjoying and loving these children/teens more because of the delay. I needed more time to grow up in my faith and so, as always, it has worked out for the best. Our humble home is large enough that no one ever has to move out… But that, too, is in his hands!

Thanks for going back to read it. It was such a surreal time in my life. God has timing and reasons that we may never understand or see–but I know He is worthy of our trust. You are able to pass on many lessons of faith and grace to your children!
My daughter loves hearing the story of how I had wanted a daughter for years, and then I finally gave birth to her at age 39! Wow, was I happy!
