The Piano Tuner
***********************
Please tune my needy heart
So it may ever be
A song of redemption
With every note in key
Remove any wanton cloak
Of sin’s prideful deceit
Place in my inmost parts
Your truthfulness to speak
Within my inner core
I ask and long to be
An instrument of grace
Played in your symphony
Pull tight each ancient string
Set stubborn pedals free
Conducting a duet
Of only You through me.
Wendy/2012
This old piano was a gift.
What I mean is that my daughter’s piano teacher
told us about an abandoned piano that needed a home.
Our daughter needed a piano.
Her keyboard was not enough to develop her skills,
and we had prayed for a piano that would not bust our budget.
Thank you, Lord, for this beautiful, ancient answer that has a voice of an angel.
While our piano tuner had the front removed, I took some photos.
He informed us that this was a very, very old and well made instrument.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! As a pianist, my heart resonates with your prayer! (It does look like a lovely instrument – great woodwork.)
Thank you, Melody! I cried the first few times when my daughter played it – tears of joy. She plays a little “concert” for me each evening…

I have a concert grand – the soundboard is cracked, so it is useless for a concert hall – but very valuable to ME! We got it cheap and it is a source of such pride and joy…I have had an idea for a piano poem for a while but haven’t been able to take the right pic for it – your post challenges me to get back at it! 🙂
Oh yes, do a poem! It took me quite a few shots to get decent pictures. Finally I waited until the afternoon sun came in for the side shots…
Beautiful old piano. I also ‘rescued’ a piano and spent some time on renovation. They all deserve to be loved. Nice pictures and poem Wendy. 🙂
Thank you! I consider our old piano music for the eyes, too…

Beautiful photos, and beautiful prayer in verse, Wendy! God bless you.
Thank you, dear Caddo!

Glad I was there to be a part of God’s surprise to you…an answer to your prayers. Blessings, Dee
God’s greatest gifts are friends like you!

I happen to know that piano teacher well and I’m glad she was used by God to answer your prayers for a piano. May your daughter continue to fill your life with beautiful music, as mine has!
Love from the piano teacher’s mother
My daughter adores her music lessons! I am loving and lapping up the results of your daughter’s good teaching… By the way, your daughter has a wonderful singing voice, too. But I’m sure you already know that. Let me know when you are in town.

What a wonderful blessing! Most of all, I love the poem.
Thank you!

This made me cry, Wendy. The poem prayer could not be better in anyway. Thank you so so much for taking the time to photograph and write the way you do. Your ministry is blessing us hugely! God bless you!
Wow, Debbie, you’ve blessed me with your generous words. Thank you! I’m loving responding to creation with poetry. To hear that it blesses others is a taste of heaven. Your poetry calms my spirit and ushers me into his presence.

It is a beautiful instrument, with a great story behind it! We were talking with our kids tonight about James 4:8, drawing close to God. My husband used an example he thought would resonate with L., that if we were planets, God is the sun that keeps us in orbit. Your poem kept going on this theme of being close to God…of being “in orbit”…of being “in tune”. When we sin, it is like playing a wrong note or being out of tune–not doing what God created us to do, missing the mark. I love how there are so many things around us that can tell the story of God’s grace and love. I hope you have many, many more concerts from that piano!
Yes, we miss the mark. So Jesus hit the target for us. It is so awesome that your husband is teaching your children spiritual truths. One day they will teach, as they have observed, your grandchildren! Great legacy!

Thank you dear Cheryl! xo
Lovely.
I like instrument of grace, esp, Wendy.
Thank you, Diana. I hope I edited correctly. ❀
