Beatitude of Gratitude

Unexpected blooms

Perfuming my thoughts

With springtime days

Though autumn’s not my favorite

It keeps monotony at bay

I am thankful

For little treasures

Discovered on harvest’s cooling ground

Gold, ruby, and emerald leaves

In abundance may be found

There’s no excuse

To be downcast

As branches disrobe their leaves

I will glory in their colors

Like in springtime’s blossomed trees

When temptation to grumble

Greets me

At the fork in the road

I’ll head down Thanksgiving Avenue

Following pilgrims of old

Everything

He has created

All that I can see

Including fall in its crispness

And it’s multicolored trees

Thank offerings

To nature’s Maker

With all my heart I give

For this silently spinning sphere

Formed just right, so we could live.

Blessings on our Canadian Thanksgiving Day ~ Wendy

(I confess that I prefer spring & summer… third place isn’t bad!  Don’t be surprised if I post flowers in the winter.)

Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

  1. My neighbor and I were just talking about encouraging our kids to practice gratitude after a day of grumbles all around…sometimes it is easier to do than others, but teaching our hearts to be thankful always can change our entire outlook. Thank YOU for another reminder to be thankful. The leaves’ colors are gorgeous…and bring back many fun memories of my New England youth, after another 90 degree day here! –Alison

  2. Nicely said – giving thanks is a choice, a moment by moment exercise in remembering what god has and is and will be doing in and through us. Happy Thanksgiving!

    1. I’m choosing to say thank you for your comment! It is generous, loving, and messy to have been given free choice. Glad He still manages to be in control…

Happy Thanksgiving to you & yours.

  3. Beautiful poem, gorgeous colours. Nature is so truly amazing – to be robed in such stunning beauty. I enjoy all the seasons. They each bring forth their individual glory for us to bathe in, and to reflect. Thank you, Wendy

    1. I agree with you that all seasons have their own beauty. The more I delve into photography – the more treasures I am uncovering in them. My heart is warming up to fall. I even anticipate some frosty mornings to capture…

        1. Indeed, I do, as they are rather cooperative subjects! I’ll come right over. In a week or so I will post some that I have collected this summer. My kids always let me know when they see them pop up somewhere in our garden!

          Blessings ~ Wendy

  4. Love your poem, Wendy! I sooooo look forward to this time of year…it’s my favourite. I am relaxed as the temperature decreases and the leaves reveal their true identity. The changing seasons reminds me so much of our Creator. He reveals Himself in his timing in the different seasons of our lives. What a wonder to behold! Blessings and Happy Thanksgiving, Wendy 🙂

    1. What a marvelous way to look at seasons! I am going to be an autumn convert before long. Last night I fell asleep with a smile as I ran through all the blessings from yesterday alone! Today I am thankful for the smell of turkey roasting and my renewed energy that enabled me to prepare the desserts the family loves. I just didn’t have the juice until today… “For everything there is a season… ”

Thanks for the visit here, Dee. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! Hugs ~ Wendy
